I really enjoyed Loved, Book 2 of the series, but this one was not as good. It was very slow and boring in places and I felt like the whole book dragged up until the end. There were a lot of new characters added just for this installment that were kinda weird and I know from the ending they won't be back, so I can't say I'll miss any of them. There was also a new added "love interest" in this one. I put quotes around it because to call him a love interest is really a stretch since he's only in like three or four scenes and they only go on a walk once in the book and then he's forgotten for Caleb again. All in all, this was not a very good addition to the series but I will probably continue because the ending led into what sounds like a really interesting plot line so I'll see where that goes and hope for the best.

Betrayed Book #3 in the Vampire Journals Morgan Rice 9780982953747 Books Reviews

Disappointed. Editing errors that would embarrass any high school teacher much less a professional writer. And this unfortunately is not just something I am seeing with this writer alone but with this generation of writers. Ms. Rice is a much better writer then this and deserves better editing. She also can write much more movingly and with realistic characters that draw you into their story. Instead, it was yawn time and vampires that seemed more like elves. A rival for "Twilight". No way. Only because I respect some of her other books will I try the next book.
Betrayed (Book #3 in the Vampire Journals) by Morgan Rice packed a powerful punch. Following Book #2 Loved, Caitlin and Caleb are in hiding. Caitlin is now turned into a full fledged vampire with powers that includes flying. They are visited by Caleb's former wife, Sera, who tells Caitlin that they are still involved. Caitlin witnesses something which confirms this forcing her to leave Caleb. She winds up on an island off of the Hudson River called Pollepel (which means Polly) where she discovers a teen vampire coven. With them, she learns the skills she needs so she can fight in the Vampire War. Meanwhile, her brother Sam is still with Samantha and becomes involved with Kyle's vampire coven (not in a good way either). Kyle has begun to spread the bubonic plaque amongst the humans leading to devastation. There is an all out Vampire War in this installment which made the story even more exciting. Wasn't too happy with how it ended though. Leaves you hanging!!! Now if only Ms Rice could write Book #4 sooner rather than later, I would be forever grateful. Until then *sigh*.
I started the series and was enjoying it but slowly it is become as if the author had lost interest herself. Descriptions of location, fights, people are vague and not through enough. Fight scenes just seem to abruptly end. Proofreading is needed due to a lot of misspells and even stating a character but not that character is suppose to be talking. The 1st book caught me (it was free), I ordered the second ($.98) still good, 3rd and 4th ($4.99 I hesitated to buy these) and the story was eh, don't know if I will be continuing to read it all. Also the amount of money for the whole series is ridiculous, $45. If you buy a book they are the size of a harlequin book, thin and not the whole story is in it. The most it should be is $10. it is a book and not and educational book.
Betrayed The Vampire Journals, Book 3
This it the third installment in this series. It is not a stand alone book. You need to read the two previous ones. The story line about the vampire war is exciting with with twists and turns. That is what keeps me buying this series.

This is what I don't like. Caleb, a vampire thousands of years old, why is he so instantly and deeply in love with an immature, rash and self centered 18 year old. I hope Caitlin matures as the series continues. So far she is bearly likable. I skip over her inner monologues and teenage angst.

Samantha, a vampire thousands of years old, why is she so instantly and deeply in love with a 14 year old? Kind of creepy. I realize that many of the vampires were turned when they were teens, but that was hundreds and thousands of years ago. Why are they still behaving like young teenagers. Why are 3 of the main characters named Sam, Samantha and Samuel? Why are there so many typos and grammatical errors?

But still this is a series that always ends with a cliff hanger that makes it impossible not to buy the next book.

OK, I was going to buy book 4. But I read the reviews. And, a lot of the comments state that the errors and typos get much worse. And that Caitlin regresses in her stupid behavior rather than matures. So I think I am done with this series.
This gets only 1 star because of all the typos, grammatical errors and misnamed characters. The name of Caleb's wife is Sera, but on several occasions, she was referred to as Samantha. Also, the characters Caitlin and Caleb were transposed several times ... "Caitlin, his wife and son ..." Then there are all those typos, missed words in sentences and grammar errors. It made the book VERY difficult to read. The story plot was good, although, I must say, Kyle is a bit too evil for my taste, all that killing and beheading, etc. Caitlin, although still a teenager, is somewhat self-centered, whiny and insecure too much of the time. I got through 4 of these books, but decided that at the price asked, it is TOO much for all the errors throughout ALL the books. I kept hoping the editing would improve, but it isn't happening. So, Ms. Rice, as much as I want to know if it will be Caleb or Blake ... I will not be buying or reading any more of your literature. Either hire someone to read your books before publishing or ask several friends or fans to do that for you!
