What can I say about Hilda - Back to School that I haven't said about the previous books in the series? It's funny, it's charming, the eponymous Hilda is a sheer delight. Anyone who likes Terry Pratchett's popular Discworld series will almost certainly enjoy the Hilda books.In the instant volume, Hilda and William are off to a school of magic to sort out problems there, so there are shades of Harry Potter, but Kater deftly manages to avoid any hint of derivativeness and retains his own unique flavour throughout.
Highly enjoyable!

Nothing I liked in this book. It was boggy with discontinuity. The characters are not very interesting. I could not finish it.
While reading this my first thought was that it would make an excellent childrens movie. The story was great when it told of how the exploits of Snow White's stepmother was foiled by Hilda. But the parts involving the witches personal life sucked.
wouldn't recommend for preteens unless they are mature
great story, great caricatures, loved the comedy references
can't wait for the next book in the series.
I could easily relax and get into these books
Well Mr. Kater I have to say that all those years with a computer didn't ruin your creativity. This book, along with all the other Hilda books have been quite entertaining and I plan to finish the series. Thank you for your time and energy.
This is book 7 in the Hilda the wicked witch storyline - and it's just as funny and surprising as the first 6 books - My advice - gotta get 'em all!
Love the Hilda series! Don't base your decision on the first book of the series - this is one author whose writing and editing skills improves with each new book. After reading all the free Hilda volumes, I had to purchase the rest of the series to find out what Hilda and William got up to next!
This time Hilda, William and Babs have to face... kids. Not normal kids though, but future witches and wizards from magical school Hilda used to attend. Due to some mysterious circumstances Hilda is asked to help as substitute teacher. Add to that mysterious Well, bunch of magic kids and a dragon and you'll have a great and funny read.
This is one of my favorite Hilda books for now.
