This book is a solid addition to a series that I truly enjoy reading, but I had to wait a week to write this review so I wasn't frothing mad. It's all about the ending and how it pissed me off. And truly it shouldn't have, because OF COURSE this is a post-apocalyptic setting not a fairy tale romance, so of course stuff is going to happen. Bad stuff. Stuff that even in this fictional world make me want to punch someone at the injustice of it all.So bravo Ben, you've run me through the wash and I've come out -- no longer mad, more impressed but still annoyed.

I read all three books and found each was better. The humor was great and the commentary on today's life was spot on. No spoilers but I thought the end of this book was a disappointment. If the series continues, I think I know what' going to happen.
Are you kidding me with that ending?
Fun read. Well developed characters. A little too real and not what you'd call a standard ending although there was closure. Not nearly enough, so I'm hoping for a book 4 even though this was brutal.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Cleverly written with insight into today’s world and presented with a tongue in cheek presentation that makes you laugh at the same time as you examine the world we live in. The story grabs you and sucks you in.
Wish I could give more than five stars. Wallace has nailed american society in all his novels. From the so called tolerance movement, to the loss of common sense in our society. He does this with biting satire and hilarity. The author also incorporates loss and angst Into his writings. The fact that I would pay cash money for an autograph copy of his works is the highest compliment I can offer. If u r reading this Wallace I am not talking about paying more than the cost of the combo plate at the pit in Austin, plus a few beers. Don't let success go to your head son.
Absolutely hilarious, but also a great adventure story and a nice romance. Some serious moments, too - the author has a lot to say. The author is a bit like Terry Pratchett - taking old themes and making them fresh and funny and yet some serious emotions and thoughts. As good as #1 and #2. A bit darker but still excellent.
I really enjoyed the series, but this book may have made not want to read any further. Yes, it's post-apocalyptic, and yes, you expect bad things to happen, but the last pages of this one may have put me over the edge as far as these are concerned. However, I loved the characters, even the bad ones, I really appreciated the descriptions of the people and places the Librarian encountered (especially Chewy!), and I know, because of this, I will probably read on.
I was hooked when I read his first novel in the series, and found myself having difficulty putting them down. Unfortunately I ran through them far too quickly only to leave me waiting and wanting the next installment. They are definitely full of adventure and action, and untold numbers of unexpected twists. His characters are well developed and his addition of more than a few mutants, as one might expect mutants in a post apocalyptic world, just add to the enjoyment.
These works are not just a re-mash of Mad Max, but if you are a fan of Mad Max, then you will enjoy these works. I am a Mad Max fan and also really enjoyed reading them.
